Hey, I’m Larisa!
(spelled with one ”s” and pronounced with Italian accent but I’m Romanian, although I live in the US)
I was born and raised in Deva, Romania. I’ve always been motivated to dream big, work hard and to never stop learning. When people see my photography, I hope that they feel inspired! I’ve always wanted my photography to be meaningful for people and to give them some goosebumps ( yes, like cute little independent butterflies chilling in your belly)
My passion for photography and constant drive to push myself into the unknown to see what I was capable of - this is what gave me the strength to pack a bag and hop on a plane bound for USA - hungry to grow and to continue my journey for my love of photography. Fun fact; I always wanted to be an architect because it seemed like the cool thing to do and I would impress members of my family - but my career was very short because I didn’t really like it and honestly I don’t think I was very good … I was bad. Fast forward 5 years later (moved to Bucharest Romania to study at a random collage, met my current best friends and built the best memories with them, lifelong friends!)
Now I am here on Martha's Vineyard, a little island nestled off the coast of Cape Cod Massachusetts, USA. I've spent countless hours photographing the things I love most - the connection between people, the laughs, inside jokes, their love, the small and the big things that makes them … them.
Each person has their own story and I am both honored and thankful to be able to capture these moments. Seeing people's joy in my photographs reminds me that I am doing what I am meant to do, in a place I'm meant to be ( for now).
I always wanted to be a professional third wheel.
Random stuff
I am always looking for a good laugh, always trying to make people laugh ( most of the time by the time I translate a joke in my head and deliver it with Romanian accent the moment is gone). That’s my excuse for when I’m actually not funny.
I'm a Pisces and even if it doesn’t mean anything at least it puts me in a box with a lot of cool people and we can bond over it. Plus I memorized some facts about us, I got you.
I use sarcasm to get out of a stressful situation, or to show my friends I love them when I’m incapable of saying “ I love you”.
I love everything about Romanian food, trying to cook it here is very difficult, so I started to buy my mom plane tickets. Now she spends every summer here.
Some of my favorite things that make me happy are; music, good coffee ( espresso please), rainy days, barefoot on the grass, onions in every meal, road trips, trees, a good joke, hugs and binge watching shows.
My friends don't want to play board games with me anymore because I get competitive.
I live on sugar but am surprisingly healthy.
